The Third Reality Smart Plug is a simple solution to make intelligent appliances smarter, such as lights, fans, coffee makers, and more. The updated Smart Plug Gen2 retains all previous features and adds real-time power monitoring and restore status capabilities.
The Schedule and Timer Function allows you to automatically turn on/off any home electronic appliances, making your life more intelligent. The Group Control feature, along with the Smart App, provides advanced group management for your smart home. With Remote Control, you can easily control your home appliances anytime, anywhere, without limitations of time or distance. When connected with compatible Echo Devices or other Zigbee hubs that work with smart speakers, Voice Control enables you to use voice commands to turn your plugs on and off.
In the SmartThings App, you can access the Energy Monitoring & Dashboard to view energy cost, history, and create routines. The Restore Status function, available on ZHA and Z2M, allows users to customize the on/off status after power-on. Hubitat users can remotely control the smart plug and see the real-time energy cost, while Third Reality supports remote control, total consumption, real-time power monitoring, and restore status.
The Third Reality Smart Plug uses Zigbee Low Energy Mesh wireless technology, which enables whole-home installations with a farther reach. Each plug serves as a signal repeater, so even if a smart plug is out of reach from the Alexa Echo device, it can still be controlled using the Mesh network. When paired with a Hubitat hub, if the current state cannot be seen or controlled, users should change the device type to "Generic Zigbee Outlet" in Hubitat.
Energy monitoring dashboards are available in SmartThings and Home Assistant (Z2M/ZHA), allowing users to create routines based on consumption levels. The Zigbee repeater function is a practical feature that extends the signal range with a mesh network. The Restore Status function, which allows users to customize the on/off state after power-on, is available on the ThirdReality App and Home Assistant Zigbee 2 MQTT.
To move a Plug Gen2 to another Echo device, users should first remove the plug from the Alexa app and wait 30 minutes for cloud synchronization before repairing with a different Echo Device.
The Third Reality Smart Plug is Zigbee 3.0 standard compliant and works with compatible Zigbee hubs or Echo devices with built-in Zigbee hubs, such as Echo (4th Gen), Echo Plus (1st Gen and 2nd Gen), Echo Studio, Eero 6, Eero Pro 6, Home Assistant, SmartThings 2015/2018, Aeotec, Hubitat, and the THIRDREALITY Hub. The setup is easy, and the space-saving design maximizes efficiency and convenience.
The Smart Plug offers real-time power monitoring, which helps users effectively save energy and reduce waste. This function is supported by Home Assistant, SmartThings, Hubitat, and the THIRDREALITY smart hub Gen2. To ensure home safety, the Restore Status function allows users to customize the on/off state after power-on, currently supported by the THIRDREALITY Hub Gen and Home Assistant.
The Third Reality Smart Plug can be remotely controlled and voice-controlled when connected with compatible Amazon Alexa Echo Devices or other Zigbee hubs that work with Alexa or Google Home. With Home Automation features, users can enjoy intelligent life by automatically turning on appliances like coffee makers and toasters, and group multiple plugs for centralized control.
Additionally, the Third Reality Smart Plug, enabled by the Smart Bridge MZ1 (sold separately), integrates with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa (Smart Speaker required), and SmartThings, providing easy control and monitoring. The plug also supports software OTA (Over-The-Air) updates, allowing for effortless firmware upgrades.
